Cliff Fonseca
3rd Degree Black Belt
Professor Cliff has been practicing Jiu Jitsu for 24 years, under Luiz Palhares and running academies over the same period of time. He opened One Nation Jiu Jitsu in March of 2010 and it’s been our home ever since. He was an active competitor for majority of his career, slowing in recent years as age and priorities would have him do. His focus is the day to day operations, the staff, our students and parents. Ensuring everyone has what they need to succeed on and off the mats.

Jeovany Ortiz

About Jeovany
Professor Jeovany is a black belt under Cliff Fonseca and one of the head instructors at One Nation Jiu Jitsu. He was exposed to Jiu Jitsu at the age of 9. At the age of 13 he began competing and has been successful throughout his career to current. One of his main priorities is to provide world class instruction and help our students accomplish their goals. Outside of Jiu Jitsu, he loves spending time with family and friends.
Tyler Jackson
1st Degree Black Belt
About Tyler
Professor Tyler began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey with Professor Cliff in 2013. As a high school athlete, he was looking for something challenging to lose weight after a major shoulder surgery. He dove himself into Jiu Jitsu and lost over fifty pounds in six months! Professor Tyler received his Bachelors of Science in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2014. Professor Tyler manages the front desk and runs our Afterschool and Summer Camp Programs. He has dedicated his life to learning and teaching Jiu Jitsu.
Clay Oldham
Black Belt
About Clay
Clay has been a practicing martial artist since learning Taekwondo at 15 and a Jiu-Jitsu grappler since 2010. He was awarded his blue belt 2012 from Samuel Braga, his purple 2016 and brown 2018 belts from Douglas Bueno, and his black belt 2022 from Cliff Fonseca. Clay loves sharing the techniques that have helped him find success on the mats, especially the details that can give smaller grapplers better odds against larger opponents. He also has a B.A. in History, a M.S. of Information Sciences, and is the Systems Librarian at MTSU's Walker Library.
Ryan Coleman
Purple Belt
About Ryan
Coach Ryan is a purple belt under Cliff Fonseca and Jeovany Ortiz. He started practicing Jiu Jitsu after signing his son up for the summer program at One Nation in 2019. He immediately fell in love with grappling. He played team sports his entire life, but have never felt more part of a team until joining One Nation. He started teaching as a fill in at blue belt. In June of 2023, he started coaching our 6 a.m. classes. His style of teaching is a little different and He focuses on being collaborative during the class.
Doug Newburn

About Doug
Coach Doug is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt known for his strong fundamentals, technical precision, and no-nonsense approach to training. He blends functional strength training with the same principles that make him so effective on the mats. Doug's focus on proper form, core stability, and efficient movement ensures that every student builds real, transferable strength that improves performance both in BJJ and everyday life. Whether you're rolling on the mat or swinging a kettlebell, Coach Doug will push you to train smart, train strong, and build a foundation you can rely on.
Sadie Beard
Brown Belt
About Sadie
Sadie is a brown belt under Cliff Fonseca and Jeovany Ortiz, leading our Women's Only Jiu Jitsu Class every Sunday. She's passionate about creating a space where women can train, grow, and feel empowered — both on and off the mats. Sadie started her Jiu Jitsu journey to challenge herself and quickly discovered how powerful the community could be. Her classes are built around support, confidence, and connection.
